PROLOGUE

when he started attending high school, shin jun ﹣ seo had always been a very quiet person. always sitting on the sidelines, witnessing everyone around him being the center of attention. he sort of liked it that way ─ being the one to witness the action as opposed to conducting it.because of his introverted ways, he was always led to believe that he didn't belong or even deserve to be under the spotlight.but that was all before he truly discovered his niche.it all began when he attended auditions for his school's spring musical ﹔ just with the intent of supporting his friend jang min﹣ah, who was going for the lead female role.having sat through the full audition, he got to learn some of the lines for the male lead, especially during choi ho﹣beom's ❨ the theater kid who managed to get the lead male role in every play ❩ audition ─ unknowingly taking in every single word to memory.and so ❨ assuming no one was around ❩ jun ﹣ seo stood front and center on the stage and boldly recited the lines as if he were actually performing as the lead character ﹔ his entire performance filled with the passion and flair that could be seen in any theater kid, but yet seemed like something only he could truly pull off best ╱ effectively.

and since this was the theater, who else would've ended up hearing it but the teacher in charge of auditions?on the day that the official cast had been announced, jun ﹣ seo walked into school only to be met with everyone from the theater program going out of their way to congratulate him ﹔ especially min ﹣ ah, who tackled him in a hug upon seeing him.confused by the sudden wave of "congratulations", she dragged him over to the cast list and pointed to the name at the top of it ─ which of course was his name, written in big bold letters.overcome with surprise, his eyes widened at the sight of it. on that day that he was reciting the lines to what he originally thought was an empty auditorium, he had zero intentions of actually landing the lead role — much less getting a part in the play at all.of course, this infuriated ho﹣beom ❨ who again, had managed to get the lead role in every school play since he was a freshman ❩ . because how could a complete nobody, especially one who didn't even formally audition, get the role over him?obviously these thoughts just stemmed from typical jealous﹣envy, and would be expected from a theater kid who was as dedicated as he was ─ but he was still very set in his ways.

having gotten stuck as just a mere understudy for the lead, and not even an official role, this had sparked a rivalry between them ─ obviously unbeknownst to jun ﹣ seo at first.for the next several weeks of rehearsals, ho ﹣ beom's pettiness drove him to do whatever he could to sabotage jun﹣seo's performance ﹔ locking him in rooms, offering him food that had gone bad . . . all so he would have no choice but to miss rehearsals.having grown tired of the constant sabotage, jun ﹣ seo arranged to meet with ho ﹣ beom in private. obviously he knew this was an obvious rookie mistake ─ especially due to the lack of witnesses.if anything severe or fatal happened, ho ﹣ beom would just use it as an excuse to get him out of the play once again. and unfortunately, as expected, exactly that had ended up happening.at the peak of their back ﹣ and ﹣ forth arguing, ho ﹣ beom aggressively shoved jun ﹣ seo back ─ therefore sending him flying into one of the parts of the set which still ended up crushing his ankle even when he tried to move out of the way.in this moment, the theater instructor had walked in just to see jun ﹣ seo clutching his sprained ankle while ho ﹣ beom was accusing him of "stealing his role" and how he "didn't even belong in the drama department".

after that, it wasn't long at all before she intervened by calling ho ﹣ beom out─and despite the understudy's attempts at feigning innocence, ho ﹣ beom finally got what he deserved. and so, from that point on, he was no longer allowed at all in any more school plays for the rest of his high school career.but as satisfying as this was for jun ﹣ seo, the play was just around the corner and he was in no condition to move or even walk like normal around the stage ─ which was a big part of his performance due to all of the dance routines he spent all this time learning.despite the circumstances, however, jun ﹣ seo instead decided to just keep going ﹔ he had already worked too hard and endured a lot ❨ between the intense rehearsals and ho﹣beom's constant tormenting ❩ to get to where he was now. he was determined more than anything to perform on stage ─ something he never thought he would ever feel as the kid who accidentally landed the lead role two months ago.having finally found his place in the high school scene, jun ﹣ seo went on with the support of min ﹣ ah and his fellow theater kids to star in as many plays as possible.and towards the end of his high school career, he received a scholarship for the korea national university of arts. of course, he accepted it and went on to become a performing arts major in theater ─ with a whole new set of dreams that would hopefully ❨ positively ❩ shape the rest of his life as an aspiring actor moving up in the world.

HEADCANONS

Jun-seo hadn't even thought about pursuing acting through the
rest of his high school career until one day when he (
accidentally)
managed to get the lead role in the Spring Musical during his
second year.
This spontaneous discovery followed him to college (specifically
Korea National University of Arts) where he went on to major in
performing arts (theater) upon receiving a scholarship when
graduating high school.
Prior to acting, he pursued figure skating for a bit and would
compete locally. Although a decent skater, he had a tendency to be
very hard on himself and get upset easily ─ partially due to the
fact that he had just hit puberty at the time.
He had finally decided to retire from figure skating in 2020.To this day, he just ice skates as a hobby, but still gets
disappointed over not being able to land a triple axel.
